I'm going to go have to go against the grain on this one.

As the late great Barry White (and the not so late or great Michelle Gayle) once said - Sweetness is my weakness. And this wine is powerful, distinctive but slightly too bitter for my sweet tooth.

Unless they are offset with an abundance of sugar I don't particularly enjoy the flavours of black coffee, dark chocolate or liquorice. This bad boy is bursting with all three.

I didn't dislike the wine - there's plenty of dark, earthy fruits and one of the most enticing noses I've had the pleasure of nosing. It's big, warming and well crafted.

I've rated 3 out of 5 which isn't bad but you may have gathered by now it just didn't hit my sweet spot.

I enjoyed Fabricio's wines at Lords when we were trying to find the unknown Rising Star from Argentina, and whilst his wines didn't get to the tape first, they were commendable!

This blend of Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon and Bonarda boasting a 14% abv, promised to be a tasty little number. Another cracking wine to look at in the glass, with a deep, dark and quite dense appearance, it exudes a nice bouquet when you take a hooterful - just fruitilicious, with some definite hints of warm alcohol lurking in there too.

Dark berry fruit flavours hit the palate, something a little vegetal too, quite smooth and comforting, and -post-food - ending with a slightly sharp tang along with the chocolate notes on a medium finish.

It went well with the leftovers of our moroccan lamb meal from last night. Yes, quite happy with this one!

Excellent food match with Chinese!
Prawn toast, pork dim sum, sweet and sour chicken/pork Hong Kong style, crispy beef and, of course, egg fried rice.
This has to be a favourite - it goes well with so many things...
Better check my stocks!!

I shared this with friends over Sunday lunch. It went very well with venison casserole and got thumbs up from all present. A very good wine indeed!
