Seifried Aotea Nelson Sauvignon Blanc 2011
by Heidi Seifried

  • Carefully blended by Heidi from fruit grown in Nelson, which is on the western side of the New Zealand near the northern tip of the South Island
  • Aotea range name comes from an old Maori word for New Zealand, Aotea-Roa, meaning 'land of the long white cloud'
  • This is a punchy Sauvignon Blanc, which is just fabulous with Sushi

"I guess you could say that wine is in my blood. I grew up on the family vineyard and winery alongside my siblings who now also work in the family business. My mother and father pioneered modern wine-grape growing in the South Island of NZ. This was back in the early 70s when as a young couple they were told Nelson was too far south and that grapes would only ever be viable in the North Island of NZ. Now, 35 years plus later, the South Island of NZ produces the vast majority of NZ wine! Quite a remarkable turnaround in such a brief time!

I'm delighted that I've managed to stike a balance between my main career (Dentisty), and my passion, winemaking."

Fantastic wine for the price. Bags of flavour which even silenced a pretentious wine buff!

Now this is one beautiful Kiwi SB. Dry, with no acidic aftertaste at all. Terrifyingly quaffable.

This wine has a clean refreshing taste and well worth the money - Will certainly be a "Buy Again" bottle.

Very, very nice. Much better than the 'best sauvignon blanc in Chile' that was recently on offer (Marina Sauvignon Blanc 2010 - rather average IMHO).

On a par with the Bibby Wines Sauvignon Blanc 2010. If you liked that, you'll like this.
