Comment on: Anticaia Salice Salentino Dop 2009
Having retrieved this from the chiller - that is my garage wine store right now - to make sure that it was the right temperature for enjoying tonight.... We had a tikka masala curry!
Best laid plans came to naught, as it was not a match made in heaven alas...
Tippling away post-meal, the wine is offering more from its fruit-punch alcoholic nose through to the palate. Nice colour to this 13.5% abv wine. To taste, there is this rush of damson plum and some cherry too, a little brush of vegetation, before it moves on to leave you with a lovely long fruity finish which is slightly tannic but very acceptable.
The wine-food mismatch is my fault, and I should have grabbed another bottle and left this for a more suitable italian pasta dish, with mince, mushrooms, tomato, garlic and herbs drizzled with olive oil and sprinkled with some Gran Pedano cheese.... Next time?
