Lionel Rodénas's Story

"As is the story with so many people who do my job, I grew up in the wine trade! My grand father was a wine maker as well and he was really passionate. I guess it rubbed off on me!

I love the transformation from grapes to wine, the making process, tastings, adjusting the wine when needed. It is truly a multitask job, the fact that the product is alive, the wine is different every year.

My first year as a wine maker, catastrophic! The grapes were not healthy... really bad results. I learnt so much in that first year, it will never be repeated! So nice to receive so many awards these day…great recognition that we are doing it better every year!

Winning a GOLD medal from Decanter this year was particularly rewarding. Then to be chosen to be sold here on Naked Wines. It feels like a perfect year for us!

17/20  Decanter (excellent)
Grande médaille d'Or au Concours Mondial de Bruxelles
Coup de coeur guide Hachette
Gold medal for Viognier at Decanter (wine sold at Naked Wines)"

The wine is lovely and quite particular, not the traditional French south west grape. There is an intense citrus flavor (especially grapefruit) and would be a valuable addition to a light meal, particularly with a delicate fish.

Not great to drink on it's own definitely needs food. Very noticable white pepper flavour, would suit something like Sole bonne Femme, or similar fish dish with cream sauce. Don't think I would recommend or buy again. Not what i expected. I have had wines half the price that were better.

I liked this Rose but not sure I would buy it again. Prefer a fresher fruity taste and wasn't so keen on the banana overtones. Pleasant enough though just not to my taste.

I love Viognier and this has a real kick to it. You can really taste the pepper tones . A great wine
