Fernando's Story

"Always my passion was the land, being in contact with the nature - and in high school, I studied Agronomist which is the first step to get involved with winemaking. The grapes got my attention easily, so I continued to study Oenology in Chile. And after four harvests, I continued to train doing a PHD at Bordeaux University.

I am third generation winemaker at my family estate in Chile, and I cannot dream of doing anything else!

There are four key things I remember when producing wines:

  1. Respect and listen to the vineyards, year by year it teaches you new secrets
  2. Winemaking is not magic, the vines are the key success for a good wine. There’s nothing you can do with bad quality grapes
  3. Winemaking is a mix of art and science, in school you see only science in winemaking, the experience shows you the art of it
  4. Learn, learn and learn … and then learn again

The best thing about being a winemaker? At the end of each harvest, drinking my babies!

Big and bold, and rich in volatiles -- best the day after opening.

I cracked a bottle of this last night, I had tried it before although can't quite remember if it was the same vintage.
A really pleasant surprise, very enjoyable.

Christmas in a glass!

Rich, spicy, fruity....

Best Chilean Sauvignon Blanc I have tasted. Right balance of acidity, fresh lemon and herb comes to mind, pleasant aftertaste. Fine on its own, well chilled, or with a seafood pasta dish.
