Just thought I’d summarise all the key points so far in one post as there have been a few questions and although most of them have been answered it takes a while to read through all the posts.

Ryan and Joe O’Connell from O’Vineyards have kindly offered to manage our little venture (provided we manage to sell the 100 shares) and produce our wine.

O’Vineyards is located just outside of Carcassonne, in the Languedoc Roussillion, South West France and some of Ryan and Joe’s gorgeous wines are available on the site so you can check out the quality of their winemaking! It’s also worth taking a look at their website http://ovineyards.com/

Joe and Ryan have used the parcels of land before that they intend to use for our wines so they’re pretty confident about the quality and yields of the vines which obviously takes away some of the uncertainty and Ryan assures me he can see them from the winery so they’re under his watchful eye.

The first vintage will be ready to collect summer 2012 and we’ll have the option of picking it up during July / Aug or Nov / Dec, to be determined nearer the time. If NW ship the wine for us it will be at a cost of £5 ish a bottle to cover VAT, Duty etc, if we pick up the wine it’s just our travelling costs; we’ve also discussed the possibility of having a pick up point near Calais (a few of us would hire a house for the weekend have the wine transported up from Carcassonne for those people who wanted to pop over and pick it up which works out quite cheap!)

So just to reiterate the deal again if you buy one share for £400...

- This pays to rent the land and produce the wine for 3 years (all in).

- The wine will be a Syrah/Cab blend, with a little oak.

- Your £400 gets you 600 square feet, which should produce 25-30 bottles of wine a year, so over 3 years that will work out at around £5 a bottle

I'm really impressed at how passionate you all have been and I'm so happy we found a solution to get you all a lil piece of heaven in the south of France. I hope to see many of you picking up some wine in the coming years!
